With the portrait, and of the right size to have been attached to it’s back when framed, is a broad-sheet sized account of the presentation and speeches. Headed “Presentation to Mr W. Henry Barneby, At the Union House, Hereford, October 15th, 1904. A Recognition of Public Labours. Portrait to be hung in the Board Room, Union House, Hereford.” This is probably a special printing of the newspaper report of the event.
[The portrait is sound, but the account is very fragile, and beginning to break apart.]
Note: The same photograph appears on page 11 of Herefordshire Portraits (Past and Present). Hereford: Jakeman and Carver. 1908. On open shelves in the searchroom.
