  • This is a collection of Herefordshire County Council Education Committee files largely consisting of legal documents relating to school buildings and the land they are situated on. Apart from a few documents within one file relating to the appointment of an Assistant Head Teacher, there are no documents relating to teaching or the National Curriculum. The files all deal with individual schools, but there are also files on Belmont and Hunderton Community Centre, a youth club in Ross-on-Wye and Leintwardine Village Hall, which was used by the School Meals Service. The files include title deeds and plans; leases; management schemes; employment contracts; documents relating to rights over the land and buildings including access agreements, footpaths, way leave agreements, drainage rights, occupancy agreements for caretakers' houses and tenancy agreements; compulsory purchase orders; bills of quantities for building and maintenance work and correspondence regarding sites for new schools, extensions to schools, insurance and building and maintenance work. There are additionally some documents relating to school transport arrangements and education charities.

  • These were part of a large number of boxes that had been transferred from the Modern Records Unit to the old Herefordshire Record Office in Harold Street, but that were never accessioned, presumably owing to their bulk and were subsequently transferred to HARC in un-accessioned state. They were mixed with Hereford City Council plans and documents relating to railway closures, which have now been accessioned as DB80, DB81 and DB82
  • All former Herefordshire County Council files appear to use the same numbering system and these files relate to any other deposit made of Herefordshire County Council material, and more specifically any from the Education Committee, which includes those in CJ45, CJ99 and DB68.
