Churchills Butchers of Ledbury was founded by Harry Bertram Churchill in the late 19th century to early 20th century. The business closed in the mid to latter half of the 20th century. The location of the business changed from Homend, Ledbury to 12 High Street Ledbury. At the Homend premises staff included a housekeeper Molly Vivian, clerk Winifred Terry and butchers assistants Harry Spragg and Frank Gannaway.
This collection comprises of financial records of the business and was gifted to Herefordshire Record Office after being found in a skip close to the site of the business at 12 High Street, Ledbury. It is reasonable to assume this is not the total sum of the collection given its limited scope and that the remainder of the collection has been lost or destroyed.
