This series of photographs were grouped together in a packet despite being three discernible sequences. CL50/6/1-2 are images of Swithin Butterfields Survey for the Bishop of Hereford, 1581 (HRO ref: AA59/A/2). CL50/6/3-24 are photographs of buildings and streets in the Moorfields area of Hereford City, immediately adjacent to Edgar Street. These images were likely taken in the 1970s, prior to further development in the area due to the closure of the Worcester & Hereford Railway Line. CL50/6/25-33 are images taken of the interior of Sharrocks Shop, High Town, during its refurbishment in June 1995. Sharrocks were leasing the retail property at 29 High Town, next to the passage way to Church Street. CL50/6/34 is a negative strip of photographs taken during the summer of 1995, including those of CL50/6/25-33. The negatives comprise of images taken by the Surveyors Department of street works, pot holes etc., in Hereford City. Apart from CL50/6/25-33, no other images from the negative strip were developed and included in this collection. The final 7 photographs (CL50/6/35-42) are an eclectic collection of images (mostly) concerned with repair work.
All photographs in this series were taken in Hereford for Hereford City Surveyor’s Department.
