┆This Accession consists mainly of manuscript and typescript volumes, many of which were once the working notes and collections of several Herefordshire Historians. Among them are many of the manuscript papers of Thomas Blount \[1618 -1679\], James Hill \[1697 - 1727\], John Duncumb, M.A. \[1765 – 1839\], Thomas Bird \[1772 - 1836\], Rev. Charles John Bird, Rector of Mordiford and Dinedor \[1777 - 1854\], William Henry Cooke, M.A., Q.C., F.S.A. \[1811 – 1894\], and Rev. Arthur Thomas Bannister \[1861 – 1936\]. Where the originator is known, his name is mentioned in association with a reference, but some of the Ms volumes passed from one historian to another and were annotated by the latter owners. Some volumes were given a serial number or other reference, either by the original owner or by the Hereford City Library. These old references, where known, are included with the document descriptions. Dewey System Class Numbers are not shown.
