  • A field walk for the Woolhope Club Archaeological Research Section in 2000 was centred on Lydbrook and Ruardean, in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. A paper was prepared to accompany the walk and included historical notes on many aspects of the route. The walk was based on two themes – industrial archaeology and Offa’s Dyke. As part of the research for the walk, several PCC Wills were obtained of the Gardner family, who occupied one of the houses in Lydbrook. They also had Herefordshire connections, in particular the lease of a farm at Hunderton, part of the parish of St Martins in Hereford City.
